Transcode 360

Transcode 360 is a program that allows you to playback ripped DVDs, Divx, or Xvid files on an extenderⁱ. This is a very basic guide and may not meet everyone's needs. If you have other recommendations, tweaks, or setting changes, please add them to this guide.

Installation

Download the latest version from http://transcode360.co.uk/files/default.aspx (was version 1.6.3 at the time of writting).
Extract the files from the .zip file that you downloaded

To extract files, just double click the .zip file that you downloaded, and click and drag "Transcode360Setup.exe" onto your desktop

Run "Transcode360Setup.exe" and accept and/or allow all notifications that it gives you.
Go through the setup like you would for any other program ("Accept", "Next", "I Agree", etc.)
On the "Configure Transcoding and Broadcast Service" just leave everything on the default settings (as shown):

Leave "Run service with local system permissions" selected (default setting) and click "Install"
Select "Reboot Now"

Using Transcode 360

Start Media Center on your Xbox
Go to your Video Library (under "Pictures + Videos")
Highlight the video that you want to play and click the "Info" button on your remote
Select "More"

Select "Transcode 360"

Wait for a few seconds while it starts and enjoy :-)

Quick Tip

With a picture on screen, press "Info" (or "More") on the remote and select "Rotate" to rotate it.

Almost any menu strip can be hidden with a simple registry tweak. Click here for details.

In the Guide, press FF/REW on the remote to skip forward/back 3 hours at a time.

Press "Clear" on the remote to delete the media that is currently highlighted (works for Recorded TV, Videos, Music, and Pictures).

With an album, video, or recorded show highlighted, simply hit "Play" on the remote to start it playing immediately - faster than pressing "OK" and then selecting "Play" on the menu.

Use the channel +/- buttons on the remote to browse the guide a page at a time.

In the picture library, highlight the folder or tag you want, then press "Play" on the remote to start a slideshow.

In the Guide, press Skip/Replay on the remote to skip forward/back 12 hours at a time.

Pressing "OK" on the remote while watching Live TV will go to the previous channel.

While in the guide press the Record button on the remote twice to do a series recording.
