Microsoft Media Center Remote Control

Tips and Tricks

  • You can use the "OK" button (big button in the center for those of you who are a bit slow) to go to the previous channel while watching live TV.
  • "Skip" during live or recorded TV to go ahead 30 seconds. During music this will go to the next track. During DVDs this will go to the next chapter.
  • "Replay" will go back 7 seconds. During music this will go to the previous track. During DVDs this will go to the previous chapter.
  • "Enter" is a completely worthless button as it does the same thing as "OK"

Reprogram the Volume and TV Power Buttons

  1. Aim MCE remote at your AV remote (2/3" apart)
  2. Press & hold "DVD Menu" + "OK" on MCE remote until lights go off
  3. press Vol- on the MCE remote (lights should blink once)
  4. Press and hold Vol- on the AV remote until lights on MCE lights blink twice (if it blinks 4 times there was a problem)
  • Do the same procedure to program the Vol+ button.

Reset Remote Defaults

  1. Remove the batteries from the remote
  2. Use a metal object (e.g. a paperclip) and short the battery terminals (a couple of seconds should be fine)
  3. Remove paperclip
  4. Replace batteries
